For a year I was unsure if I should bother with this game or not. Really should NOT have waited a year. This game is so much more than I hoped it would be.. Right off the top, if your looking for another bland FPS game, look elsewhere, they are a dime a dozen. If you like something more.
This may be for you. If you prefer far cry over call of duty, this may be for you.. This at its surface is a First person shooter. Luckily it does not stop at its surface, it is deep and different.. Can you run from area to area having fire fights? Combat is fun and well done. Or if you prefer a more realistic approach you can stick to the shadows and silently take down your enemys.
The combat is top notch. The story is a exceptional. The graphics are about as good as it gets for a year ago. The downside, this game will bring an average PC to its knees. My specs: i-7 k 4. It runs most games on ultra settings well over frames per second. This game on maxed settings brought it down to 42 frames per second. It is no joke, this game will bring your system right back to reality..
One person found this helpful. So I got this because I played Metro and liked it enough. It has more content and more small stories etc going on. Its not just shoot all the time. I wont ruin the plot or any spoilers really but I will say that unless you watch everything you do you might end up with the bad ending or something. I played the game trying not to kill anyone only knocking out the bad guys mainly.
But one of the first guys I encountered I killed just cause I got a bit jumpy. As well as later on there was a point where a guy was napping in a rail cart and no matter what I did I couldn’t jump onto it at all nor would he get off it if he realized you were around and you couldn’t keep going unless he was taken care of. I have no idea how you were suppose to go non lethal but I couldn’t and because of just 2!!!!
That kinda pissed me off but the first game kinda did the same thing. I also will say one part was so obvious what was gonna happen early on so that sorta stinks. As well as there didn’t seem to be as difficult of a time trying to be stealthy in this game. The last game had a lot of traps as well as broken glass in places etc. This time I don’t think I saw any broken glass that made noise as well as only trip wires hooked up to explosives unlike the last game.

Metro First Light is a great game, I couldn’t believe how good the graphics are when I first started playing. Of course that all depends on if you have a computer that can handle this game. My computer can run everything on full except the SSAA. I have to set it at 2X if i want FPS.
Either way, the game will be good looking. The feel of the game has improved some too, I play with an Xbox controller and could lawt that the controls were dialed in better than Metro The story is wonderful, it has twists that you wouldn’t expect.

I am playing through again in Ranger mode and find if very changleing, as diffuculty is up, ammo is limited, and there are more beast. If you are a stalker or Metro fan it is a must have for your collection. What I received was not only better than it”s predecessor, but quickly became one of my favorite modern first-person shooting games. The story picks up nicely where left off, assuming the player received the “normal” ending.
Artyom feels conflicted after bombing the Dark Ones’, and hears that one may still be alive.
