As King, Beowulf must face the consequences of ambition, even as war descends on the realm. As Beowulf, players lead their men, called thanes, into battle, slay the Titans of a dying age and crush the enemies that threaten to annihilate both their kingdom and people.
Only then, when Beowulf looks Destiny in the eye, will he know what kind of hero he has truly become. Army of up to 12 thanes to unlock as players increase their heroic experience by saving thanes, killing giant monsters, etc.
Players use the thane army to their advantage by giving orders, assigning positions, tailoring weapons to the situation or enemy and by triggering in-game mechanisms. The thane army evolves with upgradeable weapons swords, mace and spears , skills and abilities.
Use legacy experience points to gain thanes, replace weapons and upgrade Carnal abilities. Carnal Power allows the use of stronger attacks and special weapons. Carnal upgrades include less daze after use and prolonged use of Carnal Fury. But if used too much, there will be grave consequences. Dynamic combat system including combos, parries and increasing skills as the player progresses.
Grab ability allows Beowulf to hold on to walls or climb, as well as fight up close with visceral hand-to-hand combat against enemies and giant monsters. Buy on.

I wanted to play this game because I really liked the movie and I was curious what happened between the 30 years in the movie, like the game says you can play through. After shortly playing through it, I just gave up playing it, it wasn’t even worth it to try and suck it up to see the ending. To begin with the graphics are not that great, I know it’s a game, but Final Fantasy 10 had better graphics than this game, hell some psp games have better graphics.
I don’t mind graphics in a game, if that game is good. The story is changed a bit from the movie, and some weapons he use changes. Weapons break way to fast, but in its defense you run into them a lot. The fighting is ok in this game, but I have played others that have a better fighting system. The only good thing about this game is the bloody kills, and finishing moves.
No dismemberment though. You get “power-ups” throughout the game, but I only got two of them so far in the game. One makes you powerful, and the other makes your party powerful.
If your “party” dies its game over and your hits hurt them too, and they get in the way all the time so you end up killing them. The grendle part is the part your party members can die.
The game leans heavily on Quick Time Events and I tend to hate these types of gameplay. Some games do it well, but some make it extremely annoying, i. They even have a music Quick Time Event, but its more annoying than anything. The only cool part was the song Beowulf sung to bring out Grendel. Overall this game is trying to be a God of War game with Beowulf instead of Kratos, but it failed horribly.
I got the game and the movie for 4 dollars together at a sale at Wal-Mart, so I didn’t lose that much on it since I really liked the Beowulf movie. I do feel bad for the people who bought this at retail price just to find out how much this game sucks, save your money for another game. Length: I didn’t complete the game because it was so bad, so I don’t know the length. The heavier name they bear, the harder they fall.

Beowulf defeats the sea serpent with his newfound power and returns to the beach where he was racing with the Thane. Afterward, having heard the problem the Danes are facing, he goes to help King Hrothgar to stop Grendel, gaining Heroic powers on the journey. Afterwards, the player plays through the thirty years of Beowulf’s life as king of the Danes, which was not seen in the movie.
Beowulf gets to journey from Herot to Iceland, defeating demons and large creatures, from a giant hellhound to trolls.
The game was met with very mixed reception.
