[Microsoft office outlook 2007 the set of folders cannot be opened free download
I have an Exchange on-site environment though I believe it was happening with just the same where some users have delegated full-control access of some shared or additional-address mailboxes such as admin or service accounts.
I’ve tried both adding the permissions via shell and the ECP, along with in the shell automapping and non-automapping. The result is an error when the user tries to expand the folder, “the set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log onto Microsoft Exchange has failed. I have successfully added additional mailboxes that are in different OUs in AD, so that doesn’t seem to be the issue.
I should add that the permissions seem to be fine as OWA works fine to “open a different mailbox” option. Has anyone else seen anything like this or have any idea where to start troubleshooting? The logs don’t seem to reveal much or I’m not looking in the right place. Any help is appreciated.
Whether this shared mailbox ar the same server as the mailbox which has its’ full access permission. It means there doesn’t exist issue with server side, so, I would suggest you try to run or reconfigure Outlook in online mode, then check whether this phenomenon is gone. I also would suggest you try to add more mailboxes to this shared mailbox’s full access list, then check whether this phenomenon occurs on all mailboxes. My on my test, change shared mailbox’s email address with email address policy do not affect the full access permission:.

UPDATE: So I have indeed confirmed the behavior of the mailbox not displaying is in fact linked to the “email address policy” being applied.
As to why, or how to fix it, I have no idea. If I change the email address policy back to the default, manually force a refresh, the folders display normally. When I change back to a custom email address policy, the error is thrown. It changes the email address format to alias dom2. Anyone know what permissions or issues this would be causing such error? From screenshots below, you can know, after changing email address with Email Address Policy, user still could full access this mailbox:. Since you could access this mailbox from OWA with “open a different mailbox”, it means there doesn’t exist issue with mailbox delegation permission, so, I would suggest you try to run or reconfigure Outlook in online mode, then check whether this phenomenon is gone.
You can also try to reconfigure Outlook profile. Another update: I realized part of this issue in some of my testing was a result of non-patched outdated Outlook machines. I initially selected “don’t update” which caused the original Outlook to not load the auto-mapping correctly period. After fixing this:. This issue exclusively applies to non-domain-joined computers.
An additional mailbox only works with a different domain regardless how this is applied, email policy or manually on a domain-joined workstation. Since you could open it in OWA successfully. It means permission has been given to this user successfully, you can try to reconfigure Outlook profile and run it in online mode.
If you don’t give permission to mailbox correctly, you will cannot open this mailbox from OWA. Office Office Exchange Server. Not an IT pro? Resources for IT Professionals. Sign in.

Friday, December 21, AM. Thanks for the additional reply. I do not believe the issue is related to Outlook configuration – as if I manually change the user’s email address, this also “breaks” the loading of the folders in Outlook. Changing it to match the original domain on the SMTP email “fixes” it.
I believe this is a second-domain email related issue. Perhaps there is a configuration I missed somewhere regarding accepting mail for the second domain?

Another update if anyone is able to help on this: The domain-joined status of the computer does not matter, but if I try to take a user other than the logged-in user and load the profile ie – not use the NTLM authentication I believe is the term here – the extra mailbox on the dom2.
What am I missing here? Sunday, December 23, PM. Proposed as answer by Kyle. Tuesday, December 25, AM.
