At this time that is the extent I have followed the procedures in your reply. I would like to explain how this situation occurred: The computer had the Office trial pre-installed which I did not use.
Recently I decided to uninstall the trial of Office and used the Revo Uninstaller utility to do so. When the uninstall was complete I found the Office was crippled. And all my attempts to reinstall it have failed. I am assuming that in removing Office essential parts of the Windows 7 bit Home Premium SP1 which the Office installer expects to find have been deleted or damaged.
It may well be that the only solution will be to use Recovery back to the factory default and rebuild the whole system. In reply to Malcolm-Walker’s post on October 2, How about system restore? Try restoring back to a date before you used Revo.
The tardiness of this response to the last two contributions to this thread is because I have been giving some consideration to my options in this matter. I have come the the conclusion that there are no options remaining and that I have to revert my computer to the factory default if I want to install MS Office again. To Walker 54 thank you. I had implemented the manual remove of Office and then rechecked every step in the procedure and the installation failed yet again To Dan also a thank you.
Revo hasn’t an undo and I had previously restored to two days before I uninstalled the pre-installed Office trial. To the contributors to this thread again my thanks but the way forward is now clear!
