Thanks for your feedback. Note : it’s not that I don’t want it to download updates, but I need the internet to be available for what ever tasks I want to do even if Windows Update is downloading. I find it absurd that in , soon , Windows 10 can’t manage the Internet usage amongst the active processes so everyone can still access the Internet, and not have a single process hog it all exclusively for itself Microsoft made this decision because statistics show that the majority of users either keep putting off updating or never do it period.

This is a potential security risk so you now have mandatory updates and upgrades. I need some sort of QoS that can ensure any given process can reliably use the Internet, no matter what other processes might be downloading, namely WU.

As is, when WU decides it’s time to download, the Internet is unusable for anything else – web pages time out, RDP and remote support sessions stutter, freeze and disconnect. This is my home PC, not in a domain, nor is there a WSUS server available, and I’m not about to go that route either to solve what seems to be a simple matter : no process should be allowed to hog all the Internet bandwidth if others also require some.

Seems the easiest way to achieve my goal is purchasing something like NetLimiter or NetBalancer Not thrilled about it, but it seems the best only?
